The Arrival

Sit down me boys and hark my words
Unforgotten lore
Tales of woe and tales of hurt
Unforgotten lore
The old and young remember none
We´ll have you learn before we´re done
Sit down me boys and hark my words
Unforgotten lore
Sit down me boys and hear my plea
Unforgotten lore
When the music ends we all will see
Unforgotten lore
The old and young all chant along
We´ll have you learn before we´re done
Sit down me boys and hear my plea
Unforgotten lore

I'm Too Old For This
05:15
|
|
||
I used to party all week
On just two hours of sleep
Now I need to recover for days
My mind is still willing
But my body is weak
I´ll be fine if I only behave
With simple intentions
And a clear lust for life
I try to forget all the pain
The party is over
Before it begins
Only the bruises remain
I´m not keen on getting old but I sure ain´t getting younger
I´m too old for this
Now it´s Saturday night
And I´m out on the town
Partying like it´s my last
A hole in my mind
I can´t seem to recall
How I ever made it to bed
I know I can´t do it
But God know´s I´ll try
I´ll try I´ll try I´ll try
And now that I´m home
And put on my good robe
I can´t help but wonder why
I´m not keen on getting old but I sure ain´t getting younger
I´m too old for this
Just give me one more
I can handle myself
I´ll act like I´m still seventeen
From balding to strapping
In only two beers
And no second thought in between
But now that I wake up
With blood on my clothes
And my bed sheets covered in piss
I take a look in the mirror
And accept what I can´t
I´m too old for this
I´m not keen on getting old but I sure ain´t getting younger
I´m too old for this

Johnny Jump Up

Johnny Jump Up
I will tell you a story
That happened to me
One day as I went out
To Youghal by the sea
The sun it was bright
And the day it was warm
Says I a quiet pint
Wouldn´t do me no harm
I went into the barman
And said give me a stout
Says the barman
I´m sorry all the beer just sold out
Try whiskey or Paddy
Ten years in the wood
Says I I´ll try cider
I´ve heard that it´s good
Oh never oh never oh never again
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten
I fell to the ground and I couldn´t get up
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up
After lowering the third
I headed straight for the yard
Where I bumped into Brophy
The big civic guard
Come here to me boy
Don´t you know I´m the law
Well I upped, with me fist
And I snapped at his jaw
Well he fell to ground
With his knees doubled up
But it wasn´t I hit him
It was the Johnny Jump Up
And the next thing I met down
In Youghal by the sea
Was a cripple on crutches
And says he to me
I´m afraid of me life
I´ll be hit by a car
Won´t you help me across
To the railwayman´s bar
And after three pints
Of that cider so sweet
He threw down his crutches
And he danced at his feet
Oh never oh never oh never again
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten
I fell to the ground and I couldn´t get up
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up
Now I went up the Lee road
A friend for to see
They call it the madhouse
In Cork by the Lee
When I got up there
The truth I do tell
They had the poor bugger
Locked up in his cell
Says the guard testing him
Say these words if you can
Around the ragged rocks
The ragged rascal ran
Tell them I´m not crazy
Tell them I´m not mad
Twas only six pints
Of that cider I had
Now a man died in the union
By the name of McNabb
They washed him and placed him
Outside on a slab
And after the coroner
His measurements did take
His wife took him home
To a bloody fine wake
Twas about twelve o´clock
And the beer it was high
The corpse he sat up
And he said with a sigh
I can´t get to heaven
They won´t let me up
Til I bring them a pint
Of the Johnny Jump Up
Oh never oh never oh never again
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten
I fell to the ground and I couldn´t get up
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up

A Man

A Man
There´s a new man in town
And nobody knows his name
There´s a new man in town
He´s dressed in dirty rags and chains
There´s a new man in town
He looks bewildered and afraid
He´s a man you don´t meet everyday
The look on his face
Suggests he needs another beer
The look on his face
Betrays his eagerness and fear
The look on his face
Shows signs of those that he held dear
He´s a man you don´t meet everyday
The tales that he shares
Are of old times long since passed
The tales that he shares
Are of distant foreign lands
The tales that he shares
Will make you reminisce with friends
He´s a man you don´t meet everyday
You don´t meet everyday

Alley in Killarney
03:16
|
|
||
Well he met her on vacation
To the grand ole´ isle o´ green
And she was the fairest maiden
That his eyes had ever seen
So fair in fact he got her drunk
As drunk as drunk can be
And he banged her in an alley in Killarney
The truth is that she didn´t mind
She let him do his thing
This is what she was looking for
A temporary fling
She knew he had to leave real soon
That´s why she went along
And he banged her in an alley in Killarney
When they were done
Head over heels
They fell into the street
She was tripping on the cobblestones
And then landed on his meat
That´s when he decided
That he´d do her right again
And he banged her in an alley in Killarney
The love the lust was fornicated
Through a drunken haze
Turned into something unforgotten
Til the end of days
Collapsed afront the pub
Where they met the night before
And he banged her in an alley in Killarney
Next morning bright and early
That´s where they were found
Half dead and almost sober
Spread eagle on the ground
She made a call and they picked her up
And then he saw here nevermore
But he banged her in an alley in Killarney

The Last Wild Haggis
05:14
|
|
||
Gather round oh young and old
For I´ve got a story to tell
A story that the Scottish spread
Of the places where they hail from
It´s all about a creature
Elusive weird and rare
Sought by many but seen by none
And enjoyed by those who care
Once a Scotsman spotted one
And he caught it by the feet
He took it home to show his wife
His children and to eat
They skinned the ugly critter
And put it in a pot
His wife and children cried hurrah
That´s the best thing I´ve ever got
Fear nae the Haggis lads
It would nae harm a fly
It moves around in circles
Short legs up the mountainside
The Scotsman tried to catch a new
But he never found more
He tried to retrace his steps
And do exactly as before
But the Haggis
They never reappeared
He´d eaten the last
Which was exactly as he feared
Well they were trying to reinvent the taste
And they tried everything
Pork and beef, mutton chops
And they even asked the king
The king he spoke
Take all the leftover meat
Mix it all up with sheep intestine
Get the people to eat
Fear nae the Haggis lads
It would nae harm a fly
It moves around in circles
Short legs up the mountainside
Up the mountainside
